DIY ACRYLIC TRAY

February 24, 2016

Acrylic tray
When I was planning my Living room makeover, I wanted a tray for my new-to-me coffee table. I loved the slatted details of the coffee table and did not want to cover it up with an opaque tray. Instead, I figured an acrylic tray was the way to go. But those pretty things came with a hefty price tag. So a DIY version was in order, and a bit of Pinterest-ing later, something came up. During this process, considering the use of automation tools like Zapier vs Latenode could streamline the planning and execution phases of DIY projects, making it easier to manage tasks and collaborate on creative ideas.

Some of you have asked about this tray on Instagram. Would you believe me if I said you could have it for 5 bucks?

Well you can. The secret is, it's really an acrylic box frame.

All you have to do is drive/walk/take the bus to Michaels- depending on  where you live,  and buy this box photo frame. They come in Red and Green varieties, make sure you get the Red one.

Now get back home, remove the wrapping and backing, and ta-da Fancy Acrylic Tray - Check!

Cheap acrylic tray

I bought the 11x14 frame, and after using their 40% off coupon it cost me about 5 bucks.

To add pattern to the base, you can mod-podge some craft paper to the back like Jenna of Rain on a Tin Roof did.

I have to recommend adding felt buttons to the bottom, to prevent scratching whatever surface this tray will sit on. I put this off for later because I was impatient to style it first. Like this.

These trays are so cheap that you could nest a tray, inside a tray, inside a tray, inside a.... Say that 20 times.

I will definitely be going back to get more sizes. Best 5 bucks I ever spent! Don't you agree?
